Website

If I had more time to work on my website I would like to put up the animation on my first page and also some animation on my website. I would also like to change up my colr schemes a bit, and add some more infromation on each golfer. Anyway, my website is fully operational. All the buttons work, there are no warning tags, and everything is just gravy. Want to check it out.http://http://www.johnstrange.com/edm310tt11spring07/Andrews/

Professor Seymour Papert

Professor Seymour Papert is a man of great vision. He had great vision in the sixties when it came to technology, especially computers. He was the first to see that children could use the computer for learning purposes. He is also a man of aciton. Many firsts took place in his labratory at MIT. In his lab the children used the computer to make graphics for the first time. From this the Logo programming language was created, and from this the Logo Foundation was created. The Foundation produces software that helps people to understand how to use the Logo programmin language and software related to the language.

Now Professor Papert lives in Maine where he has opened his own labratory called the Learning Barn where technology beyond its time is being used and implemented. He also is a distinguished Professor at the University of Maine. He also serves on advisory boards for MaMaMedia and Lego Mindstorms. It is safe to say that Professor Seymour Papert is a man of great vision and action.http://www.papert.org/

ipod, wha whamp wha whamp

IPODs can be a very instructive tool for classrooms. They are capable of massive storage of memory for on the go people. They are very easy to operate and also come in lots of different fun and neat styles. The new function on the iPOD for education is the iLife function. It is designed for learning in the classroom. It allows you to store and access all kinds of information including speeches, artwork, interviews, movies, etc.

iPODs have also decreased in price since they first came out so they are becoming a more affordable and accessible tool for everyone. It is also much easier to engage in one on one instruction with an iPOD. They allow teachers to do their jobs much more effectively by giving a more accurate interpretation of each students abilities and learning speeds. iPODs are great.click here

spreadsheets in the classroom, what!!

I had an enjoyable time searching the internet for different uses of spreadsheets in the classroom. I found a wonderful site for instruction and for different uses on the internet. It has different links for what to use spreadsheets for and what not to use them for. It also contains basic instructions for how to use spreadsheets. Fun, right.

I learned that timelines are an easy and quick thing to teach to kids in elementary school. I also learned that graphs are not too hard to do. I reccommend this site for anyone who is interested in getting some good facts on spreadsheet uses and how to use the basics of a spreadsheet.click her to be the spreadhsheet kang

mardi gras

I did pretty much nothing for mardi gras. I am not a huge fan of downtown mobile and the drunkeness that runs rampant through the city. I did enjoy myself however by sleeping in until about noon. The rest of the day i just relaxed and played with my dogs and chilled out. Good times.

costa rica blog

This blog is a collaboration from teachers living and teaching in costa rica. It contains infromtion about general facts in costa rica and why it is such a great place to live. It also contains information about what each teacher does and links to different sites. It covers everything from photo albums to bus schedules.

It is an interesting site for those individuals who would like to go to costa rica and a good persuader for those individuals who have not thought about going to costa rica. Anyway check it out son.click here for great times and good fun

blogging

My first couple of weeks blogging has been interesting. I have never blogged before so it is all new to me. I really do not use the computer a whole lot either so hopefully i can become more computer literate.

I think that blogging is fun and can be very useful for younger kids. It would teach them how to use the computer more effectively and open different opportunities for them. Blogging can also give kids more options in school other than just sitting in a desk listening. It allows interaction between kids and interaction between the kids and the teacher. It also can be accessed from any computer which allow kids who miss schoool or need information to obtain outside of class. Blogging does however allow kids to say anything that they want to which is one of the negative aspects of blogging. Overall bloging can be a useful tool in any classroom and can help kids to become more adjusted to the computer and all of the tools that come along with it.
